Some journeys are defined by a single destination. Others unfold mile by mile, carrying you from one landscape, one experience, and one unexpected discovery to the next. My journey through Northeastern Canada was the latter.
What began with a drive north from the coast of Maine became an unforgettable adventure across four Canadian provinces—New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. Along the way, I followed winding coastal roads, crossed provincial borders, kayaked the waters of the Bay of Fundy, wandered through historic towns, drove beneath towering cliffs and alongside the Atlantic, crossed the remarkable Confederation Bridge, and eventually traded my car for an airplane to continue the journey across the water to Newfoundland.
Yet what I remember most isn’t simply how far I traveled. It is how distinctly different each part of the journey felt.
New Brunswick introduced me to the dramatic tides and rugged beauty of the Bay of Fundy. Nova Scotia became something much deeper—a place where breathtaking coastlines and quiet moments brought an unexpected sense of peace. Prince Edward Island invited me to slow down among red-sand shores, rolling countryside, and charming villages. And Newfoundland felt wonderfully wild, as though I had traveled all the way to the edge of the continent.
Four provinces. Four completely different experiences. One extraordinary journey.
Rather than tell every story here, think of this as the map to my adventure—a glimpse at the route I traveled, the places that became highlights along the way, and the character that made each province unforgettable.
So, if you’ve ever dreamed of pointing your car toward Canada’s Atlantic coast and simply seeing where the road might lead, come along with me.
Our journey begins in New Brunswick.
Atlantic Canada Road Trip Route
My route traveled through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island by car before I flew to Newfoundland for the final portion of my Atlantic Canada journey.
NEW BRUNSWICK
Where the Atlantic Adventure Began
New Brunswick was my introduction to Atlantic Canada—a place of powerful tides, coastal roads, historic cities, and beautiful surprises around nearly every bend. From kayaking the Bay of Fundy to slowing down along the Fundy Trail Parkway, this was where the magnitude of the journey ahead first began to sink in.

NOVA SCOTIA
Where the Journey Slowed Down
Nova Scotia became the quiet heart of my Atlantic Canada journey. From peaceful days along the shore in Hubbards to the rugged beauty of Peggy’s Cove and the historic waterfront of Halifax, there was an ease to my time here that invited me to slow down and simply be present. Somewhere between mornings by the water, evenings watching the sunset, and unhurried days with my Bible and a book in hand, this province became more than another stop along the way—it became a place of unexpected peace.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND
Where Quiet Shores Steal the Show
Prince Edward Island felt like stepping into a quieter, simpler corner of Atlantic Canada. From the red sandstone shores and peaceful countryside to Point Prim Lighthouse and the historic streets of Charlottetown, there was an unmistakable charm to the island. Some of my favorite moments, though, were the simplest ones—watching the sunset from the shore in Borden-Carleton with the Confederation Bridge stretching across the horizon and realizing that sometimes the most memorable parts of a journey are the ones that ask you to do absolutely nothing but slow down and take it all in.

NEWFOUNDLAND
Where the Wild Atlantic Stole My Heart
Newfoundland felt like reaching the wild edge of Atlantic Canada. From rugged cliffs and hidden coves to colorful fishing villages and waves crashing against the rocky shoreline, there was something beautifully untamed about this province. I watched the first sunrise over the North American continent from Cape Spear, hiked quiet coastal trails, wandered through the colorful streets of St. John’s, and followed roads that seemed to disappear into the Atlantic. It was a fitting final chapter to my journey—dramatic, windswept, and unforgettable.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Four provinces, countless miles, and memories I will carry with me long after the journey ended. Each place offered something different, yet together they reminded me why I love traveling slowly—leaving room for unexpected discoveries, quiet moments, and the beauty God places along the way.
Until our next journey,
xoxo Karen Estrada.
