It’s funny how life changes our perspectives. History used to be my least favorite subject in school—I never would have picked up a history book for fun. If I read anything about history, it was only because a teacher or professor made me.

Rhode Island blew me away—literally and figuratively! For this journey, I chose to stay in Newport and branch out to explore nearby towns. I visited during the first week of March, and Newport greeted me with cold, fierce winds.

As a solo female traveler exploring the enchanting northeastern region of New England, I found myself falling in love with Massachusetts — and especially the iconic island of Martha’s Vineyard. This charming destination quickly earned a spot in my top 10 favorite travel experiences.
